Chapter: The Love of My Life

The ‘Love of Your Life’ comes once in
a lifetime and is a person who will love you the way you are with an enduring
love that lasts forever.
We make
investments in our life that are good and bad.
Some give great dividends others plunge you into the deficit
column. Some of mine as a teenager had
broken the Bank of
Life.
As a
mature 30 year old, I wanted to find a mysterious man of my past. He made an unexplained exit when I was
fifteen years old but had remained a breath of life in my heart and a young
love I had not been able to forget. It
was a curiosity experience with an inquisitive phone call on May 6th,
1973 that led to a meeting thirteen days later.
Sitting
in the car, chatting in the moonlight, I was captivated by the twinkle in his
eye and enchanting smile. I could see that
my love was still alive as his eyes penetrated the space between us. I could feel him reaching in my heart
touching my soul and it startled me. Thoughts
were racing within me and I felt like a high school girl again. Trying to carry on an intelligent
conversation I’m not sure I hear a word he is saying or know what words are
coming out of my mouth!
As the
evening ended, he turned my chin toward him to give me a good-night kiss but I
turned away. He reminded me, “this is not like our first date”! He cradled my face in his hands as he pulled
me close until our lips met so gently and sweetly. It felt like the kiss lasted 5 minutes. As the kiss ended he put his arms around my
body and hugged me so tightly I felt like I was going to lose my breath. I felt weak and not sure I could be
responsible for my actions. Finally, I
caught myself! I knew I must keep my
head on straight but it was an experience that was a ‘game changer’.
I had
recreated this dream in my mind so many times during the years and wanted to
reach out and touch him to make sure he was real. Under the starlit sky all my wisdom,
knowledge and intelligence flew out the window with a kiss. Holding me in his arms “He
made me feel like a special woman”. I
knew his strong hand would guide me in new dreams and adventures. This mystery man had changed my life’s
direction and was inching his way toward the “love of my life” again.
